Matthew Onarheim-Smith

Matthew  is an international pilates/osteopath/dancer/teacher/choreographer. He has more than 25 years experience as a pilates instructor. He taught for the Pilates Body Studio in Auckland and in Vienna he taught pilates for the Pilates Akademie and ImpulsTanz Festival.  He also introduced pilates into the curriculum at the acclaimed dance school P.A.R.T.s in Brussels.  In Dunedin, his home town he taught pilates based rehabilitation for the physiotherapy group Back in Motion and for Consultancy House Clinic where he also practiced as an Osteopath.

He has also danced internationally with New Zealand companies such as Black Grace, Touch Compass,
Commotion Company. He worked in Norway with Impure Company.  In Austria he dance for Klaus Obermaier and Willi Dorner.  He has created several evening works including Spin for the Croatian Dance Company Studio Dance and Observing Observing for SEAD in Salzburg.  Together with Benedikte, his wife he created the work This piece Won’t Change the World, for the Dunedin Fringe Festival which won best dance performance.
